Saturn Heavy-Duty Expedition Inflatable Kayaks

13' Saturn Expedition Kayak - Standing on the Rigid Air Floor

Our 13’ Saturn Expedition Kayak is ready for rivers, streams, or miles of wilderness exploration anywhere on the globe. This is the perfect boat for 1-2 adults whether you want to stand and fish, cruise the open ocean, sneak into those tucked back coves or just leisurely paddle across your local lake. Please note this model was not designed for use on Class II or greater river rapids because it does not have self-bailing holes and comes with a slimmer 4" thick (80mm) air deck floor. For whitewater conditions you will want to review the 13' Saturn Whitewater Kayak.

The 13’ Saturn Expedition Kayak is easy to carry and deflates quickly to store in a bag the size of a large suitcase (see our customer testimonial for more information about ease of travel). This kayak is a must for any RV, campground, fishing trip or any other situation where a vessel’s portability is important. This inflatable kayak will keep you ready for adventure in a moment’s notice.

The 13’ Saturn Expedition Kayak is made of the same heavy-duty 1100 Dtex PVC as our Saturn inflatable boats and rafts. The floor is made of a high-pressure air deck that is one of the most rigid floors on the market, making it easy to stand (see customer photos showing how easily standing up can be) and cast but also deflates quickly avoiding the portability issues of true hard bottom kayaks.

Included Kayak Accessories (2 Paddles, 1 Pump, 1 Repair Kit, 1 Carrying Bag)

Our Expedition Series kayaks come with 2 inflatable removable thwarts that can be used as a sit on top seat or back support when sitting directly on the floor. The kayak also comes with pre-installed heavy-duty D-rings to accept upto 1 or 2 optional kayak seats. Some pictures show the high-back kayak seats (black) and they can be purchased in our accessories section for $50/each.

We’ve tested this kayak in all types of conditions from whitewater rivers in Idaho to the mangrove jungles off the Florida Keys. It is simply a perfect fit for nearly all conditions and is surprisingly fast and stable compared to the competition.

The 13’ Saturn Expedition Kayak is perfect for rivers, lakes, bays and the ocean. It is a non-self bailing kayak but can be converted into a self bailing kayak, if needed, by cutting out dime-size round holes in the kayak's bottom. However, our whitewater river kayaks are better suited for whitewater kayaking in Class III or larger rapids.

13' Saturn Expedition Kayak (Paddle Shown is Upgraded Alternative to Standard Aluminum Included)

  • Heavy duty 1,100 Dtex High Strength PVC fabric coated on both side with 1100 g/m2, 0.9mm. Fabric is thick, puncture and abrasion resistant.
  • 2" thick high-pressure air deck drop stitch floor.
  • Hugging rope with handles in front and back.
  • Heavy-duty D-rings for optional kayak seats.
  • Two (2) FREE removable thwarts (value $20) included.
  • 4 plastic fins at the bottom for directional stability.
  • Storage space in front and bow under splash guards.
  • Upgraded to C7 Valves ($100 value)
  • Accessories: pair of kayak paddles, thwarts, repair kit and carry bag.
  • Complimentary generic hand pump included.
  • Optional performance kayak paddles are available.

Quick Tip! If you want to adjust the kayak seat slightly higher you can purchase a type IV flotation cushion. They are sold for around $10 in many retail and outdoor stores and fit nicely on the bottom of this kayak right under kayak seat. It also will act as PFD in case of emergency, or sit cushion once you get ashore. It also works nice with included thwarts.

I got a Saturn inflatable kayak last spring as a companion of my trip. Since then, Saturn traveled everywhere with me, from a wild river in Hokkaido (northernmost island of Japan) to tropical ocean islands of Maldives (island nation in the Indian ocean located at about 700 km southwest of Sri Lanka). It gave me great pleasures that had not been experienced before getting it. There were several reasons why I chose Saturn kayak as my companion boat. The first was its portability. The total weight of Saturn kayak including paddles and a pump is lighter than free baggage allowance of any airline company. Saturn kayak can be packed in a suitcase of 70x50x35cm (I separated each paddle into two peaces), which is convenient for manual transportation. The second was the toughness! It was not punctured by hidden rocks in the rapid stream and coral reefs in the tropical ocean. The third was the stability and controllability of Saturn kayak. It was stable enough for watching a wild life from the river and rapid enough for hopping island to island in the tropical ocean. In conclusion, I am very satisfied with Saturn kayak irrespective of its low price.
I just got off the river and it was awesome. Father, son and his best friend on the Potomac River below Harpers Ferry.

A great day, all smiles before the boat crashes through the wave train!

I have two IKs and a 14ft Saturn and love them all. Truly has brought our family together and allowed many to experience whitewater first hand, thanks!
Just wanted to thank you guys for making everything about buying a boat so darn easy. No high pressure salesmen. No price changing or haggling. None of that stuff that makes me not want to go to the store. Everything is so easy to find on your website. I bought the river kayak from you guys, then also got the kayak seat with the extra high back from your accessories section. Man, this makes the kayak so much more comfortable!
Bought an expedition kayak off your site and started taking my fiancé on river trips in Big Sur. It’s less than a 3 hour drive from us, and worth every minute. She loves to hike, but never really did any kayaking. We got 2 kayak seats, which attach super easy and are comfortable enough to sit in for hours as we glide down the river. Anyway, she loves it, and it’s great for our relationship to be out there away from work and everything. Next maybe I’ll get a whitewater raft from you guys and convince her to try something more adventurous. But I’m not holding my breath.
Just sent a picture series of my 6 yr old son and I, Ben and David Heist, (and his best friend Grant) running "White Horse" rapids on the Potomac River near Harper's Ferry West Virginia in our RK 396. (We had a such a blast summer that we have bought a RD430 Raft and a 13 Ft. new Saturn Whitewater IK)

Notice his great cast covering from "Dry Corp" made the month of his broken arm last summer possible to still have adventures. Thanks for helping us beat the heat. Great kayak.
